Is Blink right for you?
HOW WE WORK
We work in a crowded market, and you have probably spoken to other good agencies. Some of them will be a better fit than us.
That is worth saying directly, because the fastest way to a good working relationship is to be honest about who we are for and who we are not. We decline around 80% of the enquiries we get, almost always because the fit is not there - and getting that wrong is expensive for both sides.
The short version: most agencies approach a Shopify project the same way they would approach any other. They may know the basics of the platform, but rarely much more. For a lot of stores, that is genuinely enough. We are built for the ones where it is not - large catalogues where the structure itself is the thing holding growth back, and fixing it means rebuilding the foundations - the taxonomy, the data structure, the architecture - not adjusting what sits on top.
We are a fit when your store is complex enough that the hard problems require real expertise to fix.
1. Who we are a fit for
We focus on business type, not industry. By business type we mean how the catalogue is built - how many products you carry, how they relate to each other, and how much structure they need to be found. A 50-product brand and a 1,000-product brand are different businesses to us, even if they sell the same thing. So two stores in completely different industries can need almost identical work, while two fashion brands can need nothing alike - what matters is the catalogue, not the industry it sits in.
- You run on ShopifyWe work in the Liquid code, the apps and the edge cases every day, and fix the technical issues other agencies miss.
- You turn over £5m+ a yearOur approach is high-impact but needs volume behind it to be worth doing.
- You have a large catalogue (250+ products)This is where the deep work - taxonomy, secondary navigations, architecture - actually pays off.
- You have someone internal steeringWe can do the work, but we cannot be your CMO. You need a leader who can manage how we, paid media and logistics fit together.
- You want light-touch, surface workIf what you need is a few blog posts and some meta tags tidied up, a more general agency will do that well - and cost you less.
- You are shopping on priceFor the right work, you are paying for senior people on your store every month. We are not the cheapest option, and we are not trying to be.
- You need revenue this quarterSEO compounds over time. If your cash flow depends on the next few weeks, that is a job for paid media, not for us.
If you sell five products, our engineering-led approach is overkill, and we will say so. The more complex the catalogue, the more there is for us to fix - which is the same reason we wrote up why so many Shopify SEO projects fail, and why we focus on business type over industry.
2. The catch
Three things about how we work that are worth knowing upfront.
We work in your codebase and product data, and will often rewrite Liquid or restructure catalogue logic to fix things at the root. If access to the backend is tightly held, we are not a fit.
You are paying for senior developers and technical SEOs, not junior account managers. Our minimum engagement reflects that. There is more in the cost of Shopify SEO.
We start implementing straight away, but organic search builds momentum rather than switching on. Expect to pay invoices for a while before the revenue line moves, so you need the runway to see it through.
None of that is meant to put you off. It is the part of the conversation that usually happens too late, so we would rather have it first.
3. What you get in return
If you do fit, here is the trade. We treat your budget as we would our own, and we will never hide how hard a project is. We will move faster than a standard agency, fix technical problems they would not even spot, and handle your Shopify setup with the care it needs - because we write the code ourselves rather than handing you a list and hoping it reaches the top of someone's dev backlog.
This matters more now, not less. AI has made the routine parts of this work fast and cheap - which means the value has moved entirely to judgement: knowing what is actually wrong, what to leave alone, and what a given change will do three steps downstream. That is the part AI does not do for you, and it is not something a junior can fake with a good tool. On a large catalogue, one wrong structural call costs real revenue. So there are no juniors on our team - everyone working on your store is senior enough to understand the consequences before they make a change.
Putting the wrong agency on the wrong brief is bad for everyone. We would rather lose the work than take it on knowing it is not a fit.
If you like our approach, let's find out whether there is a technical fit. We will look at your store, tell you what is broken, and tell you honestly whether we can fix it.
