Introducing keyword tracking in Macalytics

We’ve just rolled out a major new feature in Macalytics - keyword tracking. This is the first step in moving Macalytics beyond reporting and into direct implementation support for Shopify SEO campaigns.
How it works
At page level, you can now view keyword data and assign one primary keyword plus multiple secondary keywords to any page.
It’s simple:
• Select a page in Macalytics
• Choose keywords from the list
• Mark them as primary or secondary
Once assigned, they automatically appear in the tracked keywords list, where you can monitor performance over time. Just like a rank tracker, you’ll be able to:
• See the URLs ranking for each keyword
• Compare performance across time periods
• Switch by country and other variables
Primary vs secondary keywords
This distinction is key.
• Primary keywords are the ones we’ll be optimising most heavily. They’ll be checked against titles, H1s, internal linking, and copy generation.
• Secondary keywords still matter, but the checks are lighter. They’re used in body copy and for internal linking, without requiring placement in key on-page elements.
This reflects how we already work internally - focusing effort on the most valuable terms while still capturing broader relevance.
Why this matters
Keyword mapping is the foundation for the next stage of Macalytics: on-page optimisation features.
By linking keywords directly to pages, we unlock the ability to:
• Automate checks for coverage in critical elements like page titles or H1s
• Scale internal linking recommendations
• Guide copywriting and content generation
• Streamline optimisation workflows
In short, this feature isn’t just about tracking - it sets the groundwork for a whole suite of optimisation tools we’ll be releasing soon.
